About LITEFile

A secure, official way to file documents with the court online.

What is LITEFile?

LITEFile is a product built by the Suffolk University Law School Legal Innovation & Technology (LIT) Lab. It helps people prepare and submit electronic court filings through a guided, step-by-step process.

The LIT Lab builds and maintains the technology. The court remains responsible for its rules, filing requirements, decisions, and the official court record.

LITEFile is an official, approved electronic filing tool of the Illinois Courts.

How does it work?

LITEFile asks questions about your filing, helps you organize your documents, and sends your completed filing through the jurisdiction's electronic filing system. You can use it on a computer or mobile device.

A submission confirmation means that LITEFile sent the filing for processing. It does not by itself mean that the court accepted the filing. Check your filing status and follow any instructions from the court.
